Fly amanita mushrooms, with their round, white-flecked reddish-orange caps, grow here too and are fun to spot; however, refrain from picking and consuming them: they are poisonous.Brook trout, a colorful fish with distinct red dots and a flaming yellowish orange underbelly, are abundant in Blue Lake. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Lots of trout in the lake, and a handful of people were swimming. Blue Lake Resort is located in the Sun Lakes area, 15 miles south of Coulee City, Washington, on the shores of beautiful Blue Lake. Be kind people. The only trick here is the trail. Look closer and you'll see dozens of wild native Cutthroat in the 6-9" range darting for food, trapped between the logs upstream and the long bumpy ride down stream to who knows where. We had no problems following the path and the incline up to the lake is mostly slow and steady rather than steep. Here, there is a junction at the hairpin curve with Road 93.
