The Cuyahoga Valley National Park gets thousands of visitors every year.

It’s so darn beautiful. This is a small but scenic waterfall.
The hike to Blue Hen Falls is approximately a 0.5 mile roundtrip. It is downstream of Blue Hen Falls. A small parking lot accommodates 3-4 cars with an overflow lot on the other side of the street. Your adventure isn’t over yet. One hike that will always be special to me is from Blue Hen Falls to the lesser known Buttermilk Falls. These falls are a little smaller than ol’ west-side-best-side but have a small park and a looking station so you can see this natural wonder from all angles. Blue Hen Falls is about 15 feet high; here is a view from the top. It is a very short hike to the first waterfalls, Blue Hen Falls and another mile to the second, Buttermilk Falls. Blue Hen Falls is a gorgeous 15-foot waterfall that trickles down into numerous streams. This waterfall is unique for its Berea Sandstone overhang that creates a cave-like area behind the waterfall.
You got that right, this post-glacial river flows right into the Berea Falls in the Rocky River Reservation. Fines are threatened if caught getting a little too close to these beauties. Take the boardwalk down to feel the mist and catch a glimpse of the sandstone before going back up to enjoy the rest of the park. The election is three months away. We went on a hike today – one which we have not done for a long time – to see two waterfalls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It was very much worth the walk.
