The adventure begins on Lake Burton’s western shore (view maps and driving directions) near the entrance to Moccasin Creek State Park.The trailhead is reached via a gravel road and is marked by a huge, inscribed boulder at the trail’s start. The drive to the trailhead was pretty, but on a dirt road, with lots of potholes from recent rains and a bit narrow. We thoroughly enjoyed this hike for its beauty, it’s shade, and it wasn’t too difficult.

The big falls at the end are beautiful. The end reward was great! We were parked across the street at Moccasin Creek State Park. But the rocks are not loose rocks. The trail dips elevation to cross a wooden bridge spanning Moccasin Creek at just under three quarters of a mile, carefully hiking across the rustic bridge.
It flooded on us one we reached the fall so we didn't get to hang out and really, We were looking for something fairly easy since we were bringing our 9 month old in a Tula carrier for the first time.
