Great drinks, great music and great small plates. The Shelter was the perfect place for us to head to for an after dinner drink! The only thing I wanted on the menu was the cheese board and they didn't have it. Take a trip to The Shelter: Underground Wine Bar in Rhinebeck and make your next meal a good one.

What can I say. Relaxed spot with a local crowd. This is more of a place to go for drinks. The world is ending. Minimal food selection, and a fair variety of craft brew. We go once or twice a month for a few drinks before dinner. There's kinda sorta dancing -- not...much room but when the bands get going, people get into it. On another note the drinks were fantastic. I would recommend this place with one caveat.... Don't go during a busy weekend. ** Update: the owner also said she asked if it was a service dog and was uncomfortable with the behavior but also stated it was an awkward situation to be in.Will I go back -  like I said the food and drinks were delicious - the bar itself is rustically beautiful and warm - so I would  recommend it so long as there isn't a "service" dog misbehaving making the customers uncomfortable.

**Update: The owner contacted me and assured me that they have made the servers/ bartenders aware and for a new bar - there is a learning curve.I feel I must preface this next comment with I am a dog lover - big or small - lovable and not so lovable breeds - I love dogs.
She replaced it but the amount of time waiting for drinks was well beyond my usual walk out time.

Very limited menu. We went there to get food and drinks but this place is not really made for a "dinner date". Maybe I'll remember to eat there before the world truly does sink into the sea. Find a similar spot. I recommend going when they have live entertainment. Those that prefer some music with their meal will find live tunes at The Shelter: Underground Wine Bar.

The wife and I always end up here after going out to dinner in Rhinebeck then wonder why we didnt just go there in the first place. Drinks were reasonable too. So we called a few places in the village to assure seating. I would definitely recommend this place as stop.
